Meet Michèle 👋. As a strategic designer, she realized the importance of web development in the design world. This inspired her to join SPICED, after which she decided to start her own business. We spoke with her about her time at Spiced, and how she sees the intersection between design and web development working for her business.
Hey Michèle! Could you tell us a little about your educational and professional background?
I originally studied towards my Bachelor’s degree in graphic design and did my Master’s degree thereafter in strategic design at the University of Design in Schwäbisch Gmünd. As a strategic designer I focus on sustainable processes, transparent communication and user-centered design. I like to unite future-orientated design, brand and product management together with a social and meaningful benefit.
What about Web Development that attracted you?
I wanted to broaden my horizon and close the bridge between strategy, design and development. I realized that I have a very good background knowledge of the design and management area but was missing how the design can be put into code. Coding always seemed always so far away from me. I never really imagined that I could create my own code that a computer system would be able to read!
How was your experience at SPICED?
SPICED teaches you to step out of your comfort zone and broadens your horizon every day. You learn, you try, you fail, you try again, you succeed and that’s what makes you grow! Beyond that, SPICED ensures that there is always support when you need it; not only for coding-related challenges, but also for personal assistance or business-related topics! The team is amazing and the values they represent are more than encouraging.
Any tips for future students?
Do not give up! Failures will make you grow. When you look back afterwards you will be more than thankful and proud of yourself. Honestly, I was sad when my time at SPICED was over.
Also, do not be afraid of going a different path than expected. Make this bootcamp your own!
We heard you’re opening your own business!
After the bootcamp, I saw this big potential to start my own business as Strategic Designer, Brand and Product Manager, where I can also integrate my love for coding.
As a passionate entrepreneur, I am now able to create customized corporate brandings and unique websites for different use cases, giving brands and products a unique stage to perform, online and offline.
